Last week we welcomed our new beginners and they got underway!
And we have a couple more starting tonight that couldn’t make last week, so please make them feel welcome.
THREE COUNTIES LEAGUE 2025 & ’26

Three Counties League: 2025 final results are vetted and live  https://sa-fc.org.uk/compete/three-counties/
Congratulations to:
FOIL WINNERS:Â HITCHIN (retaining the trophy again for another clean sweep!)
EPEE WINNERS: DACORUM (comfortably taking the trophy from Hitchin!)
OVERALL LEAGUE WINNERS: HITCHIN (taking back the crown from Bedford who won in 2024 by indicator!)
Some words from your outgoing Club Captain, Richard R:
Firstly thanks to all SAFC fencers who participated this year. It’s a great way to get in some competitive experience and I hope you’ve enjoyed it! My, what another close year at the top – it went down to the last few bouts to confirm who would be taking home the trophy once again.  What’s great to see last season is a massive improvement from Dacorum, which goes to show how things can change – the recent stalwarts of Hitchin and Bedford aren’t guaranteed top spots forever! For SAFC it was a sluggish year against toughening opponents from several other clubs, but we saw a respectable 50% win rate on both weapons and overall. This landed us 4th for foil, 5th for Epee and 4th in the overall league. With the handicap system SAFC will have a little boost going into 2026🤓
SAFC Captaincy changes for 2026:
After 4 years as SAFC Club Captain and running the league I’m going to be stepping down and handing over to the very capable hands of David W. Be nice to him and fence well!
The Club extends its heartfelt thanks to Richard for all his work over the last 4 years. Thank you, Richard
CLUB AGM: THURS. 12TH FEB (NB: NO FENCING THAT NIGHT)
The club will hold its 2026 AGM on Thurs. 12th Feb from 8pm at the PRAE WOOD ARMS
The club will be providing food and drinks – please confirm your attendance as soon as possible by visiting Bookings and selecting 2026/02/12 Thu (AGM)
We would like as many of you as possible to join us to learn how the club is run and if you can assist in any way, no matter how small, it would be appreciated. Many hands make light work!
That date was partly chosen for us as the main sports hall is not available to us on that date, so please note there is NO FENCING that night.
SOCK IT TO THEM!
Please note that socks must be pulled up to completely cover the area below the knee.
If yours don’t, or won’t stay up, please invest in some new ones. Club Socks are in stock in all sizes for a very reasonable £10 a pair.
