MK AWAY: MATCH REPORT

Cap’n David writes: It was a dark and stormy night; five hardy fencers from SAFC braved the labyrinth of Milton Keynes to do combat.
We started with Foil and despite accidental theft (of Rachel’s mask!) confusion (over bout order) and injury we won the Foil 8/1. Congratulations to Kamal, Rachel and James B. Particularly impressive was Kamal’s comeback win from 4-nil down.
On to the Epee, after a false start due the confusion over the foil bout order we were off…
Despite the MK team having youth on their side, Ollie Smith dancing through his fights and two equipment failures (Matthew shooting a spectator with his tip) we won 7/2. Thanks to James B who won all his fights and Matthew with myself making up the numbers.
Wins in both weapons and overall score MK 3 – 15 SAFC
Thanks to MK for a great atmosphere and some fun, competitive fencing.
Next match is AWAY at LUTON on Tues. 24/03. If you are available to fence, please let David know.
