- We’re in the small gym tonight so that means no group warm up or coaching – just free sparring.
- Please note we may not have access to the main club equipment store so please bring your own kit.
- We’ll run 4x short pistes.
- Please keep kit bags to either end of the gym and please don’t leave equipment on the floor between pistes.
It’s the hottest day of the year so far and record temperature for this time of year.
Please ensure you bring plenty of fluids to drink and take regular breaks between bouts.
THREE COUNTIES MATCH REPORT: BEDFORD v SAFC
A trio of James B, Alex H and myself travelled up to Bedford on Tuesday for as tough away match against last year’s Champions. On a hot night we started with foil to help work up a sweat! There wasn’t a single bout that was a whitewash, very evenly matched and highly competitive, with more than half the bouts going down to the wire at 4-4. Last year I recall a similar sort of performance, and SAFC tipped many over in our favour… alas this week the fencing Gods were not looking kindly on us, and I think every 4-4 tie ended up in a loss 🙄 Bedford won foil 7-2, but it was a much closer affair than the result appears!
For epee, we were running out of time after a lot of long, close foil bouts, so rushed through them quickly in 20 mins across two pistes and sweaty fencers 🥵. SAFC had a few epic wins but Bedford put on a strong squad who shone victorious again with a 6-3 win.
Good scrap from our team but a humbling loss 5-13 overall against an in-form Bedford. 👏
