3 COUNTIES LEAGUE MATCH – BEDFORD
Last Thursday we hosted BEDFORD for a 3 Counties League match. Match report by David W.
A long reach is useful in Epee and which individual has the longest in all of fiction? Mr Tickle! It may not have been the pink child’s character we faced, but he was very good as were the rest of his team. Thanks to Bonnie who broke her duck fencing in her first 3 counties match and James L who got to 4 all followed by 3 doubles, but we were trounced 8:1.
The foil went a lot better winning 3 out of the first 4, before stalling slightly and rallying to win the last 2. The score was tied at at 4-4 with the deciding bout between James B and Bedford’s captain Tony:Â it was a very close fight, going to 4-4 before James got the final winning point.
So a 5:4 win (just!) in Foil, thanks to JD, Rachel and James B.
But the win in Foil wasn’t enough to offset the loss in Epee, so our first overall loss this season.
Final Score:Â SAFC 6 – 12 BEDFORD
Next Scheduled match is 30.04, home vs Watford (to be confirmed).
See you on the piste later… En garde! SAFC
