The 2026 SAFC Open Air will be held on Sunday 6th Sept at our usual training venue, Marlborough Academy, St Albans AL1 2QA. Weather permitting, all fencing will be outdoors on the tennis courts.
Fence one, two, or all three weapons. (Discounts available for multiple weapons.)
This is an OPEN AIR event, not an Open competition, and the majority of bouts will be refereed by fencers.
As ever, it includes a full day of fencing, and a both buffet lunch and post-fencing food is included for all ticket holders.
Spectator’s food tickets available separately.
Refreshments (still and alcoholic) will be available throughout the day.
Veggie options available.
Format
Numbers are initially limited to 15 each for Epee & Foil and Sabre. (These numbers may change closer to the event, depending on ticket sales.)
There will be Poules Unique for all weapons, with the top four of each taking part in exhibition matches at the end of the day.
All genders fence together.
NB: You must hold a minimum of valid BF Recreational membership to take part in the event and and enter your BF number at the checkout. Numbers will be verified by 30 Aug. Refunds will not be available if your membership is not valid.
No late entries.
Medals and trophies will be awarded.
Timings
08:30 – Setup. Please come and help set up. Bacon rolls will be provided for those who do.
09:00 – Check-in opens. All weapons.
09:30 – Check-in closes.
09:45 – Fencing starts. All weapons.
15:30 – Exhibition matches. (Estimated timing.)
16:30 – Food (Estimated timing.)
18:00 – Site cleared. Please help clear away equipment if you are attending.
