14.05.26: Fencing Tonight & Key Dates / Hitchin Match & Northampton Comp Results /

TONIGHT 14.05

Due to school exam season, we’re in the SMALL GYM tonight (and we will be for the next 8 or so Thursdays)

This means no group warm up or any group/individual coaching.  Please be prepared to do your own warm up but note that space in the gym is limited, especially once pistes are out.

Please keep kit bags to either end of the gym and do not leave weapons, masks etc on the floor between pistes.  Your assistance is appreciated.

Please note: unfortunately we cannot guarantee access to the main kit cupboard so please ensure you bring all your own kit and spare weapons / bodywires.

3 COUNTIES LEAGUE MATCH – AWAY AT HITCHIN TUES. 12.05

Team SAFC from L to R: David (c), Kamal, James L

On Tuesday SAFC were away at Hitchin – match report by Team Cap’n David

It was a match that didn’t look like it was going to happen with a lot of the usual team unavailable. Even once we had a team, weapons went missing or broke, but we made it to Hitchin with a team. Hitchin won the 3 Counties last year overall and the foil so expectations were not high, especially as two of the team rarely fence foil.  We lost the foil 7/2 perhaps most surprisingly (embarrassingly), I won one of those. On to the Epee… A far better result; James L won all of his matches and Kamal and myself winning two apiece. So a win in Epee and a draw over all, an unexpectedly good result. Nothing further scheduled until July in the 3 counties.

FOIL:  HITCHIN 7 – 2 SAFC

EPEE: HITCHIN 2 – 7 SAFC

OVERALL: HITCHIN 9 – 9 SAFC

NORTHAMPTON FC TEAM COMP 10.05

Well done to SAFC’s Team: ‘Laissez Fence’ aka Matthew R (E), Rachel (F) and Kamal (S) who finished a very respectable 8th (out of 12)
