TONIGHT: SCORCHIO!
Coach Laura is leading tonight’s session so there will be a group warm-up followed by individual lessons.
It’s the hottest day of the year so far and record temperature for this time of year.
Please ensure you bring plenty of fluids to drink and take regular breaks between bouts.
**We were experiencing some issues with the bookings form earlier today, so don’t worry if it’s not working and you can’t sign in – just come along anyway. Visitors should pay the nightly fee as normal by going HERE**Â

- There’s NO FENCING on MONDAY (5th May) as it’s Bank Holiday and the school is closed.
- Due to school exam season, NEXT THURSDAY (8th May) and for the next 2 months were in the SMALL GYM
- This means we don’t have access to the main equipment cupboard: see below*
- Our next Fencing Beginner Course starts on THURSDAY 10th July. Tickets available HERE and don’t forget that a membership fee discount applies for a referal!

MATCH REPORT:Â MK v SAFC (by Team Cap’n Richard R)
Last Thursday an SAFC team travelled to Milton Keynes for a 3C match.
James.B, Simon and Rich.R started on Foil; we surprised ourselves (and MK!) by winning most of them, versus some nifty opponents! A great start, and finishing up 7-2 meant we only needed to win 3 on epee to secure the overall match win.
Cue Charlie, James.B and Rich.R making up the Epee squad. It was a tough start against a strong team.  We went 3-0 down but digging in as a team we end up 4-4 going into the final bout. Rich.R was up against a plucky youngster & leading the bout 3-0 before some hits don’t register and a comeback ensues. Changing weapons at 3-3 should do the trick, but again a hit doesn’t register and this time the new weapon is clearly not working. Third sword now at 4-3 down and just 6 seconds on the clock… double hit! 😫
MK win epee 5-4, leaving the night at 11-7 to SAFC with a win on foil and loss on epee.
A fun competitive night overall! Special mention to Charlie for a bout win in his first 3C appearance, and hopefully not his last!

We’re currenty top of the leader board in Foil, Epee and Overall…. but we have done more matches than anyone else. Keep it going SAFC!
CLUB SOCIAL SEC. & WELFARE OFFICER POSITION
Lisa has stepped down from her role as Club Social Sec. and Deputy Welfare Officer, to focus on competitions.
The Club would like to say a massive THANK YOU for your work and enthusiam over the last few years, and we wish you all the best for the future.
If anyone would like to volunteer to take over, please let us know. Female preferred from a welfare perspective, but not essential.
We’re also still after help with the CLUB ARMOURER. If you can help, please let us know.
