A lot to cover this week, starting with……

FENCING TONIGHT 20.08

Fencing is on tonight, in the main sportshall.

With temperatures being a bit cooler and more usual for this time of year, we’ll revert to normal: so a group warm-up from 8pm, followed by free sparring and individual lessons.

TARGET PRACTICE!

We have a new bit of kit for you to play with – a Favero electronic target board.

DACORUM MATCH REPORT

Sorry it’s late!  (The match was 3 weeks ago on 30th July).  Match report by Team Cap’n David:

It was a trip beyond the magic roundabout where strange things happen…  We visited Dacorum for a three counties match.  There was a distinct lack of foilists available so we went with a predominantly epee team: John, James L & myself, with  James B on foil duties.

And we started with the foil: we all took part; I won 2 despite my foil breaking and even the other two who were least keen managed to win one.  Congrats to James B winning all 3 of his, and we finished the foil 6-3 ahead.  A good start as we went into the epee…

…And Dacorum are very strong at Epee.  John managed to win 2 and we had a few close matches but maybe the foil took too much out of us, as we lost 7-2.

So we won the foil and lost the epee, final overall score: Dacorum 10 – 8 SAFC

Thanks team for sterling work. No further matches expected until after the summer.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  YOUR CLUB NEEDS….

We are looking for volunteers. With the Open Air just over TWO weeks away, we need helping hands for the prep and set-up. Most importantly we need people at the start of the day to help set out pistes, tables, refreshments, etc. This should not interfere with your fencing and just means getting to Marlborough an hour or so before check-in. There’s also food and drinks for the BBQ to be bought in the days leading up to the event, so please let the committee know what you can commit to to help it run smoothly.
